Stock Engine Bay

Here is a picture of the engine before anything was done to it. Very clean but also very plain. The next photos will show you what was done to make it sparkle and become a show winner.

Wire Loom Change

The first thing to do is to give the engine bay a little life. So I decide to change the black wire loom to yellow. Here is a picture after the yellow engine loom was installed. The is a close up on the following page.  Approximate time to complete was 4 hours.

Billet Anodized Aluminum Caps

Next was to install the billet anodized caps from MBA Products. As you can see, the Whisper carbon fiber lid and BMR strut tower brace was also installed. The engine bay is starting to show some signs of life. One problem I had with the caps was that some were to loose and other where to tight. For the loose ones I used a clear silicon sealant and it work just perfect. The tighter ones I just had to use a little muscle to get them on. Approximate time to complete was 20 minutes.

Painting

It was still lacking something to make it jump out at you when you opened the hood. So I decided to do a little painting to add some accent to the engine bay. I painted the strut brace, radiator shroud and cruise control assembly using automotive paint from the local parts store. Then put a couple coats of clear over that. Approximate time to complete was 4 hrs. (dying time)

Hose Covering

On the list next was to install the hose covering on all the radiator hoses. This involved removing the hoses from the radiator, so I decide to do a fluid change also. Pictured right is the colored hose covering that was used on the hoses. Also a close up of the anodized radiator cap. Approximate time to complete was 3 hrs.

Anodized Aluminum Bolt Caps

A picture of the anodized bolt covers that were installed on all visible bolts within the engine bay. The sizes that were used were 10mm and 14mm. Approximate time to complete was 30 minutes.
